Deciding on the right child wall clock for your youngsters can be a daunting task, especially if you ask for their input. They may want a musical wall clock, Disney wall clock, talking clock, dog wall clock, and the list goes on from there! If you have youngsters, you know what I’m talking about.

The problem is that with the widespread use of the digital clock, we’ve become very lazy when it comes to telling time. Some people don’t even know how to read a regular clock, and most of them are youngsters.

The scary thing is that many youngsters have never had to deal with telling time from a standard clock, because they have only been exposed to electronic and digital clocks. If your youngster doesn’t know how to tell time from a traditional clock, then we highly recommend that you get them a child wall clock with hands and teach them how to read time the old fashion way. Most times, all it takes is a few minutes of explaining how it works for your child to pick up on it.

If they ask why they need to bother to learn to read a traditional wall clock when all they have to do is look at the digital clock, give them this reason: Using a digital clock can make the mind lazy and everyone should know how to tell real time. If a digital clock is not available, how will they know what time it is?

A traditional wall clock for a child will help teach them how to tell the big hand from the little hand. This way, they will have the skill to tell time in any situation. And this will be a lesson that they will carry with them through the rest of their lives.

Another major benefit of a traditional child wall clock is that if the power ever goes out, they will still be able to tell the time. I’m sure that you have been thankful for your own traditional, battery powered wall clock the last time the power went out for an extended period. I know that we were!

A shortcoming of most digital clocks, such as your microwave clock or alarm clock, is that they go out when the power does, unless you remember to keep a fresh battery in the battery backup (and who does?).

This is why buying a child wall clock that runs on battery power is always a good idea. While it is true that a child digital wall clock can be found that runs on batteries, isn’t it better to make this a learning experience in time for your youngster? I think you will agree!
